CFS Healing Journey – An unfiltered account of the CFS Experience: The author, in the compelling introduction of the book, explains her confusion when she was first diagnosed with CFS. Compared to typical fatigue, CFS is draining, leaving no aspects of human existence untouched physical, mental, and spiritual. Describing her personal tests with great detail, she tells the story starting from the very beginning and the first difficulty-the breakdown at the gym, after which her body did not respond properly to commands. Here, she creates the setting that casts the stage for an in-depth look into ways of living with this chronic disease.
The five steps to self-help
To write this book, I first tried to understand who is suffering from CFS and saw that it is people of all different ages and backgrounds, and with different severity levels of the illness. I found that it is hard to find a common de- nominator for all these groups because every- one has a different experience and reason for the development of the symptoms. Some people can trace the onset to a virus, while others may develop CFS symptoms without any warning or obvious reason. There are also those who might see a connection between high levels of pressure and stress as a trigger of CFS symptoms. The severity of symptoms differs greatly as well. In severe cases some people can’t get out of bed and are unable to do anything, while others may experience only mild symptoms and recover more quickly.
